Re: Homemade Electrolyte Recipe
Mick M. NV powder is a commercial vitamin/electrolyte sold by Vetafarm. That is an Australian company, don't know if they are available to you. It is very good for stress situations, gives the birds a boost to get them through it. In the UK, the Birdcare Co. makes a similar product, Guardian Angel, though I'm not sure if it contains electrolytes.

If you have one bird that is a little under the weather is this safe to give to the whole flock without removing and treating just the one bird?

"Pedialyte or similar commercial electrolyte", how often should this be used?

Turn towards home, and go there. Many overs, over woods and fields, streams and hills, many overs. Just turn towards home. How else would one go there? Perhaps it was a dream, and you have awakened from it. May the earth rise up beneath you, with home in your heart, and your person waiting.

Re: Homemade Electrolyte Recipe
I don't think it would hurt the other birds, it is mostly just electrolytes. I wouldn't continue to use it for a long period of time, but I have given NV powder (which is basically electrolytes and glucose) for several days for birds that were under stress.Sojourner wrote: lpappy asked:

If you have a sick bird, there are several products you can offer, such as Thrive or Survive by Morning Bird.

Re: Homemade Electrolyte Recipe
Thanks for this- I have a very stressed Java due to a recent move who's maybe not drinking well from their cage- I'm gonna try this for her tonight!
I also have a new little baby who is about one month and one week old-is it safe to mix this in with the soaks eat I'm giving him for food now? He seems rather chill, though.

I don't know that I'd give it to the baby, but I'd definitely give it to the stressed Java.

The birdcare company uk is probably one of the best companies in the uk if not the best, I've used a few of their products over the years and to with very good effect,
I used to use a formula called " spark " and was used when I got back home from exhibiting my birds as the long distance traveling obviously can cause a little stress to some birds and this product used to calm em down and settle back into their surroundings,
Incidentally I always used to give me birds a quick squirt of anti mite spray after every show
Well done to Debbie for the formula and thank you for making the thread a sticky

Is it safe to mix in with formula for baby finches?
I have two zebra finches; Mouschi, and his girlfriend, Kim.
