Iverlux treatment

I am going to treat my birds in quarantine with this and was wondering how you all mix with water? Need ideas. Thanks.

The bottle directions say to add 1/2 teaspoon per quart of drinking water. I use a 2 quart pitcher to mix, so I add 1 tsp for the two quarts of water. If I think a finch has ASM (air sac mites) then, I use SCATT or S76 with a Q-tip that I dip in the bottle and I dab the Q-tip onto the thigh, underneath the feathers. They say to use one drop, but the medication can be dangerous if overdosed, so I use the Q-tip to make sure I don't put more than a drop on the skin.

I do both. I place a drop on the back of the neck, seperating the feathers so it is applied to the skin, When I first ghet them home. I will follow up with 2 days in a row every week for 3 weeks. Then again 2 days the sixth week of quarentine just in case there were some resistant mites. This should clear the bird forever...unless if come in contact with another infected bird or picks some up from the enviroment.

The ivermectin is not all that stable in water. You should remove the water tube the evening before. The next morning the birds should be thirsty. Place the medicated water before them. Ususally they will be sure to get a good dose this way. No baths or watery green foods or fruits should be given when you are trying to get birds to drink medicated water. They can get enough fluids from these foods that they avoid the water all together.

What is the differens between Moxidectine and Ivermectin?

The biggest difference is that scatt (moxidectin ) stays in the blood for 21 days where as the ivermectin only stays in the blood for 24 hours I believe. I had no luck with s76 (ivermectin) while I was treating my goulds for asm. I purchased scatt and treated everyone and I saw huge improvment in only 2 days. I will stay with scatt from now on.

Repeat for three weeks in a row.

But if i use scatt I use one drop one day and them wait 21 days, not 2 days i a row? Just check so i got it right.

So i either use one drop in the neck ORE if i have many birds to treat, i use the "Small bird flocks"-treatment? Not both.

If scatt does not clear up the clicking in a couple days I would look into what other illnesses could cause the symptoms you are seeing. ASM is not the only thing that causes clicking, there are many other illnesses.
