Hey there, I got a blue male from a friend. She just got him in Oct....he was healthy and with babies. When she got here with him He is now balding, heard a little clicking out of him at lights out, his beak had grown crossed at tip, he has balded around his chin up through his ears. I have had him here about three weeks. Since then I trimmed his beak, scatted him 12 days ago, started him on Baytril 4 days ago....gonna do a round of Ronivet 12% on everyone. Then I will use some bene-bac. Sounds like alot, however I chose this route because shortly after I got him she started having problems with her birds including 6 deaths. She took 4 to the vet, (bought some societites from a really poor source at a fair)..He really is acting and eating very normally. He has never acted down at all I just know I think he has asm and possibally has been exposed to something else not so nice. I don't want to send him back to her because he was the original mate to my female that just raised a clutch alone with another male...he came from there and died 3 days after babies hatched. (may have seen the post)Momma and babies are fantastic. I have them on Ronivet 12% right now as caution. I also Have gotten some Iodine to start giving them. I planned this treatment out carefully after hours of reading...then I joined this forum! So does this sound reasonable, also He chirps fine, but when he sings no sound comes out. I will get a pic of him here in a while and put it up so you can assess him if you like!

Pictures please and sounds horrible..i hope he gets better. Could he be molting? And sounds like ASM I would do a round of scatt again or try S76, you never know if the parasites can become immune to a treatment

Sorry the previous post was so long just thought all the info could be helpful, Here is the blue...once again camera phone quality diminishes when I cropped photo, the picture actually makes him look rougher than he does. But you can get the general idea of his balding. he does have a few pin feathers coming in. Hopefully here,on a good diet and some tlc he will be back to where he was in Oct.A beautiful bird with very nice babies.

I am going to scat him again in two days....that will be 3 weeks between scatting..also he does not click anymore since I scatted him, no voice back yet for singing.just chirps, doesn't sound raspy very clear. I think he will respond to the treatment. We will see how it goes.

scatted him 12 days ago
Scatt stays in the birds system for 21 days so I wouldnt scatt him again till after 21 days if you feel you need to, you dont want to overdose him.

o.k. you are right and I know that, I have it marked on calendar....let me check...It was january 10th...so the 31st will be 21 days. I was probably guesstimating at the post where I said 12 days. Thanks for lookin' out for me. I can be scatter brained. I have 15 babies right now and 3 still to hatch....of various species.
