Cordon bleu getting plucked

Post by aaqua85 » Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:59 pm

I have a pair of rc cordon bleu that I rescued 6 weeks ago. They looked dull and were very blah in Thier activities. Since I got them and gave them proper care they are vibrant and spunky now. However the oddest thing is happening. The males head is suddenly plucked? Only the female is in with him too. Any suggestions? Is she getting broody or are they suddenly unhappy?

She must be plucking him, if they are by themselves in a cage. She may be getting broody, and if there aren't any nesting materials or nests in the cage, they will improvise! The improved nutrition can trigger breeding mode.

That's what I suspected. They have a nest and I've seen them peeking. What is Thier preferred nest type and string/twine of choice?

I prefer the first one but the second is good too and gives two free samples with every purchase. Shipping is fast and they have good service

Well I ordered the fibers and trasferred them to a larger cage. Hopfully they get busy!
