Fading Society, Think I Lost Him

I fed the birds at around 7: this morning, everybody normal, hens sitting, males singing, etc. I went to chek on them (good thing I stayed home sick) to find a little male society on the cage floor!!! On his back. I thought he was dead, but he still has some life in him. I moved him to a woven basket, lined with paper towel, and put a heat lamp on him. He sits up for a few seconds but has no strength, he was fine a few hours ago! His crop seems empty, though I saw him eating this morning? I got him to drink some water. He rolls around a bit and flaps his wing, but he is slowly fading. What could have caused this?? He is housed with his brother, and his brother is perfectly normal, the other of males on the other side of the divider are also normal. I do not know what happened, but he has a bald patch on his head, I think his brother started plucking him after he fell to the floor. I am thinking he choked or something? He looks like he has the hiccups. I tried feeding him some cornmeal (don't know what else to try) but he only at a few bits.

Thanks. :( Well, I saved him from cramped quaters at a pet shop, he wasn't looking good then, I'm glad his last couple months were good ones. :)

Dante, so sorry you lost the finch! That is always so sad and we have to remember we do everything we can to help our feathered friends. I loved his name. RIP Cadbury.

Thanks Deborah :) I want to find out what happened, too bad his brother cannot tell me. And Dee gave me the idea to his name :)

Hm, maybe? He was in their with around 40 other birds, they barely had room to fly. Well, hopefully his brother does not die the same way

Dante...sometimes there are just unlying conditions that we can not see that tke our beloved pets from us.

We re dealing with the thought of loosing our ruby, Cali right now. It does not seem fair but you give your pets the best you can and enjoy them while we are privilege to have them in our lives.

Oh, so sorry to hear that :( They don't get the best care in pet shops, but at least he was well loved before he went.

Thanks Oshtay and Rour. :( and I agree, some petshops are ignorant when it comes to finches.Yes, atleast I know he was cared for with me. :) I put his brother with my other fawn and my crested. He seems happy to have some friends.
