A Question About Scatt

I just bought some Scatt and I see the cap on the bottle is the kind you press in on one side to tip up for the hole on the other side...(well that is the best I can describe it being only a "Domestic Engineer"...lol)
Well it says to put one drop on the bird under the wing....so do those of you who use it...use a separate dropper of some sort or will it drop out of that hole in the cap in the right amount? I am afraid to try it in case it lets out too much.
I hope you understand what I am trying to say...

My bottle just has a dropper tip, but I've been warned that even that can administer too much. I have a friend who puts a drop on a flat toothpick, though I'm not sure if you end up with too little that way instead of too much.....

Featherharp,
We have bottle with the top you describe and get a drop out of it most of the time. We have never had a finch O.D. from getting a bit more than a drop so you shouldn't over worry about it.

Personally I bought a dropper to use it, I'm not the best at holding finches so I wanted something easier than the bottle cap.

Thanks for the advice and ideas....I always worry about using stuff like Scatt. My Vet daughter says that Scatt has illegal ingredients in it...
Have never heard that before! But I guess as a Vet she has to inform me about that. But I am going to risk "going to Jail" and use it anyway...lol.
She is coming home to visit this weeked...I will have to ask her more about that...and find out why it is considered illegal...otherwise you would think the Govt. would get their hands on controlling it. But for now I ain't gonna worry about it...

It's funny your daughter mentioned that. We were told that the old labels were illegal because they did not meet some federal labeling, and that's what made the ingrediants illegal. I recently saw new a new bottle of SCATT with different label so they may have fixed the issue.

Hmmm....very interesting Sean....I will mention that to my Daughter when I see her.
Guess I don't have to worry about going to Jail then...LOL

From what we were told, Scatt was illegal to sell or possess in the US because Veta Farm's label for Scatt stated that it *killed* insects (mites/lice). All manufacturers of products that wish to use the word or any variant of "kill" in its advertising or labeling must be registered with the EPA and have a permit.
So, Veta Farm had two options:
1) change it's label so it didn't include the word "kill" or any variant thereof; or
2) obtain the necessary EPA registrations and permits.
Both options would require a serious financial outlay ... we're talking millions of dollars ... on Veta Farm's part. For a long time, Veta Farm did neither but still attempted to export Scatt into the US. The EPA confiscated many shipments and came down on/threatened several distributors/retailers if they didn't remove the product from their website/shelves.
However, we recently noticed that Scatt has a new label. We haven't checked to see what changes Veta Farm has made to it, though. So, we don't know if Veta Farm removed the word "kill" from it's label, has obtained the EPA registrations/permits, or is simply attempting to get more product through US customs.

Yep, it was quite a scandal that was kept pretty hushed.
But, you're welcome!
