I was looking into getting a quarantine kit, mite treatment, calcium for daily use or emergency, just really here to ask all you breeders what do you keep??
I kinda wish we had a sticky of before you buy you need this this this and this...lol

Cause I am looking through the list and thinking okay..maybe that maybe this...so figured I would come here and ask what do you keep and give for quarantine, sick, breeding pairs, eggbound, molting, or anything else I can think of. Thanks

As I do plan on breeding and this will be my first time. I am asking for some "noobie" help on a shopping list

Do the search and you'll get a good idea of what's required when keeping finches and/or other birds.

I see I guess I just did it wrong was trying to find the names of items used. Ah well..thanks sorry for asking already posted info.

If you are looking to choose a kit out of those sites, I would personally go with the morning bird starter kit, fairly complete

If you plan to breed them, I'd add handfeeding formula and something to handfeed the babies with (I use a banding tool), just in case you have to supplement or take over completely.

Some pet stores carry handfeeding formula; some don't. If you need to feed a baby quickly, there's not really time to go hopping from one pet store to the next ... much less order it online and wait for the shipment to arrive.

Basic quarantine for me is food and fresh water and then later a worming agent, I personally don't like to medicate birds which aren't sick but that's just me and everyone does what they feel is right.
Equipment and meds which I like to keep handy are heat lamp and small cage (hospital cage), moxidectin, baycox, coopex, mite and lice spray, calcium plus, soluvet, codliver oil, bird wormer, ivomec, triple c and when I can get it spark or first aid. These are products which I try and stock at all times but sometimes useby dates do pass. I only try and use certain ones when birds are sick which are moxi, baycox and triple c, while others are used for worming or mite control and only once and a while. Soluvet is used after a sick bird is recovering as this contains alot of vitamins and minerals which will help a recovering bird bounce back. Spark or first aid is used when a bird first becomes sick and treatment starts as this can give them the boost of energy to help the meds fix the illness. Coopex (don't know the name in America) I also use to help eradicate mites but also spray aviery to help kill/stop ants and other annoying insects.
Everybody will have different meds or tools as these will help them in their situations. If I had time I would consider a hand rearing formula to assist sick birds needing food but to tired to eat.
