Change of lighting during long days
What changes should I make to my fluorescent cage lights; the daylight starts around 6ish now & goes to 8ish. I have my lights set to go on at 6:30 & off at 7:30. Do I even need my lights on now that summer is on the horizon?

I keep mine the same, on at 7am, off at 8pm.
The earlier sun rise and later sunset gives them extra "twilight" time.

Re: Change of lighting during long days
Since I wanted to have it seasonal like the seasons here I use two of the devices that turn off lights when illuminated and a second light...hooking them together so the sun turns the cage lights on instead of off. I used a little LED nightlight to trigger the second sensor, so it should never burn out and there's no heat to worry about.finchandlovebird wrote:What changes should I make to my fluorescent cage lights; the daylight starts around 6ish now & goes to 8ish. Re: Change of lighting during long days
In the winter I had the lights from 6-8, but it starts to light up around 6 and darkens maybe 7:30-8:00 now, so I do not turn on the lights.
