owl with bad legs - scaly? virus?

Hi,
Since last week, there is some "scaly" on my male owl legs. He seems to be in discomfort and usually stand on one foot. I searched and there are possibly two kinds: scaly or POX virus. He is in my mixed aviary, and no other birds has it.
I've been separated him and apply S76, and SCATTS directly to his feet, once a day, alternately. So far I don't see any improvement, or very little.
From the pictures, do you think it is scaly? Contagious? And please suggest what to do.
Thanks,

Hi Cindy,
yes, I read those two links, still confused and not sure which one my owl got. He is strong, active, sings all day long, so doesn't seem to be POX. However, scaly feet should be kind of "dry" looking, but his looks more like infection. Can you tell from the pix?
is my treatment right?
Thanks

this looks like it may be avian gout...see the swelling in the joints.

The one toe that looks dark may be lost soon...the swelling can restrict blood flow

mix tea spoon of baby oil with 2 drops of detol and apply to the whole leg and feet. Looks like a bacterial infection which may have been caused originally by some sort of injury. That is what I would do in the first instance. From the description it does not sound like pox or any contagious disease. Also if it was scale the Scatt would have fixed it. Do this for do days and look for any improvement. One toe at least looks lost
