Dry, Almost Peeling Beaks

Post by txstitcher » Mon Jun 18, 2012 4:31 pm

Two of my juvenile (both born in February) societies' beaks look kind of dry and almost seem to be on the verge of peeling. I don't note any other dryness on their legs or feet and their nails look good.

Is this normal?

Thanks!
Michelle

I found the following on Avian Web that may be of interest to you:

http://www.avianweb.com/beakdeformities.html

Perhaps what you are noticing is the cracking described as normal for beak renewal. Or you may be noticing what peeling beak seems to indicate - problem with diet.

Do you have any pictures?
