something below the wing

Hi!
One of my birds (lady gouldian) has a strange lession under his wing. I saw him yesterday, he was a little sad, standing on one leg, and he seemed to have some blood on the wing. I took him to a little cage and he seemed better today, active and eating, but I took him to see what does he have under the wing, and he has like a tumor, with something in the middle. I don´t know if he was bitten by an insect or something.
I know that some pictures would be helpful. Unfortunatelly I haven´t learned to post pictures

, and I think I have no time to learn if I need a prompt advice.
Last time I sent Liz some pictures and she was so kind as to post them here. So, Liz, I will put you to work again, I am sorry. I hope you have time to do it. I am sending you two pictures right now to your mail.
Thank you!

Posting pictures got very easy with the new forum updates. Now all you need to do is click "POSTreply" and in the "Upload attachment" area click "browse" and tell it where your picture is, then click "add the file". Then your done, they resize automatically now.

I have another one. I am posting it now.
I have to go now, but as soon as I get home again I will read your messages.
The bird woke up very well, he seems healthy.
Thank you!

Hi Maru, I have only now been able to check my email and I see you have posted the pics here successfully.
I'm sorry to say I've never seen that before but hopefully some of the other members will be able to assist and advise you further.
I would suggest a heatlamp be added to one side of his cage right away until trip to an avian veterinarian is possible for your Lady Gouldian finch.

Ouch! poor guy.
It looks like he's been picking at it too, with the blood on the wing...
I don't think it looks like an infection because I don't see any puss...although if he continues to pick at it, it might become infected.
I have no idea how to treat this, but if I saw something similar on my birds, I would probably keep the area clean for them until someone told me of a plan B
I would also check to see if the lump is caused by trapped fluid/blood, or if it's an actual hard lump.
My guinea pig (ages ago) would get these red fluid pockets on his belly. I took him to the vet and the vet just drained it.
fingers crossed!

I'm not a expert, I have never experienced anything like this so your post has intrigued me. I did some googling and if I had to guess I would say it looks like a possible feather cyst.
Here is a video of a vet removing some feather cysts form a canary:

Like I said before, im not a expert. I suggest you take him to a avian veterinarian for a proper diagnosis.

Well, Little Wings, you may not be an expert, but the cysts in the video look almost identical to what my gouldian has. I am thinking what I should do. I will talk to a vet who supposedly knows about birds. I have not had very good experiences with the one I know, I´m pretty sure they don´t have laser to do the procedure in case it is necessary. I will ask her if at least she has an anesthetic source for birds. Anyway, I will continue watching at him. He only seemed ill the day before yesterday, when I think he was picking his wound and bleeded a little. Since yesterday he seems fine, but I will talk to the vet.

I talked to a vet and he told me to monitor him, see if he seems happy, is eating, etc, and if the lession grows or gets smaller... if I see it growing or some other sign of alert, he told me to take him. I will keep you posted.

Sounds like a good plan for now, Maru.
