Do any of you have an antibiotic schedule that you administer to your birds? I've had finches for almost a year now, and everything has been going great thanks to all the information I've been able to gather through this forum. I can't seem to find anything on this subject though.

I too would be interested to know if there's something else I need to add to my finches medicine routine / schedule.
Good Q!

I am basically looking for a list of different medicines that you guys use since I am still fairly new to this, and which ones are safe to use throughout the year to prevent possible future illness without harm to the bird. I know finches can appear well, but still be in the early stages of sickness and I don't want to be caught unprepared.

I was searching this subject and found an article about finch self medication that touched on this subject. Here's the link if you're interested.

The author recommended against preventative antibiotics due to them causing liver damage in his past experiences. I'm not sure if this means all antibiotics are a danger or just some of them, but it sure does make me want to be careful. What does everyone else think?

That is a really interesting article you found...thank you!
But I still hope some of the professional breeders will give us some advice as well.
