I had a male & females adult Zebra Finch, Together they had 5 beautiful chicks about a month ago. Yesterday i noticed one of my babies had died. Though i found it weird i assumed it had probably gotten hurt or something inside her didnt develop right. I cleaned all their food and water dished and bedding out and gave them new. I also bathed them with bird cleaner.

Today i got home from work and i noticed my female PARENT finch was dead in the nest! why?! what should i do?! I dont wanna lose them all! was it just a coincidence or something more?

Could be a coincidence. Could have been a number of coincidences.. Do the other birds look healthy? Wierd dropping? Breathing? Are they all eating and drinking? Are they placed near a window, or hallways, anywhere near a draft? DO you have other pets? Do they have night lights? Night frights can cause internal damge.

They all SEEMED fine and still do. Their droppings seem normal, they are slightly greenish though? They are eating, drinking, and breathing normally. They are not near a daft. Our roommates have 2 dogs but they are never around the birds, the birds stay in my room. Yes they have lights, for day and night so they stay warm enough. :?

Hm, strange. I think it may have been a coincidence. Just keep a close eye on things.

Maybe that can be the problem?? My birds drink water straight from the tap and have never had issues

People smoke cigarettes in the house, but not directly by them.

That cant be helping. Second hand smoke can kill humans.

Sometimes finches can just die, and there may be no apparent reason for it. I lost a heathly male Zebra finch at six months of age - he died in his nest during the night, and I still don't know what happened! Your female might have been brewing an illness for a long time, and when she got physically stressed (ie laying eggs) this might have triggered it. Don't be hard on yourself. It happens, unfortunately. Hopefully the father will continue to feed the babies

Maybe... Ands yes, he is feeding them. I was worried at first but they seem to be trying to eat on their own too.

My concern is mostly with keeping them all safe from this point on. But they seem fine.
