cat attack

I came home VERY UPSET to find feathers on my bird room floor. Someone left my door to my room open and my cat had gotten at my youngest bird. She's very very quiet and breathing heavy but otherwise seems okay.
Please, other than going to get a heat lamp right now.... and advice? How close do I put the lamp to her? Food? water? Any advice will be very much appreciated please?
I'm just shaking

Give her some food, water, crushed up egg, vitalize if you have it or you can use the electrolyte recipe found on this site as well. You want the heat lamp close but not so close that you burn her. I usually stick my hand under to measure the warmth and my birds will move closer or farther away depending how much heat they want.

Thank you Dana, for your quick response. Do you know if I should separate her from the parents ? She's 10 months old and the only baby of the parents. Will the parents pick on a sick bird?
I want to do whats best to try and get her out of shock. She seems just a little bit better, her eyes are open now but she still isn't moving much.

If she's that quiet( shocked) I would tend to isolate her and use heat. Good luck

Dayna's right, warmth and food are best - dishes on the floor where she can easily reach. set up the lamp so it's right at the cage, but some area where she can get away if it gets too warm. keep a close eye on the parents, and keep things quiet. Leave the lamp on all night, she will need the heat to help recover for probably a few days. Best of luck, and keep us updated!

Thank you for all your posts, I appreciate it very much. She is doing better because she has eaten some seed and has taken some water. She's still quiet but seems to be coming along slowly. I have taken all your advice, thanks again. I'll let u know how she is tomorrow.

An update:

My bird is doing much better today. She is SO lucky! I have learned a hard lesson.
Thank you SO much for all your prompt replies, very much appreciated.

I never knew I could love a little bird so much!!

I'll keep my eye on her still.....
