fairestfinches sells Iverlux, a Morning Bird product to be added to the water. If you treat your entire flock every three months, you shouldn't have a problem.

Some people use S76 in the drinking water for their flocks.

B Camp,
I have used Scatt on birds younger than 6 months of age with no problems. Can I ask where you found that Scatt should not be used on birds younger than 6 months? I don't see that information listed on the bottle or on Vetafarm's website. Did you contact Vetafarm directly?
Thanks!

Here is the link
http://www.ladygouldianfinch.com/features_scatt-s76.mgi Also I talked to a aivan vet that thought I should wait till she was done feeding the chicks.
This all started because one of my goulds chicks just didnt seem as energetic as the other three now the hen is setting and at times is puffed up,but she still eating and most of time she seams to be fine. Thanks for your reply.

Hi B Camp -
I contacted Vetafarm asking if there was an age restriction (under 6 months) on the Scatt. I thought I would share the response I received from them:
Hello Tammy
Thanks for your enquiry. I emailed our vet your question and below is his response:
Provided the bird is free flying there is no age restriction - obviously do not use on nestlings. Application should be as per instructions. When applied as directed this is a safe medication.

So based on the response - it is safe to use on birds younger than 6 months of age.

Just as an FYI I lost several birds while using S76. Ivermectin, on the other hand, can also be added to water and appears to do the trick. It's an Abba product that TammyS carries.
