Grapevines for perches

I lucked into a ton of sizeable grapevine trimmings which I will use to make perches. I have started cutting them and I sprayed them with a diluted clorox solution and left in the sun for several hours. Is there anything else I should do? And does the fact that the bark remains make any difference?

I left all the bark on mine and over time it peals itself. I have a piece that twists and turns swinging from an eye hook in the middle of the aviary. That is the go to perch for one and all, they love it.

Thank You! The bark is starting to peel away already - nice to know I will not have to sand them!!
