Are my babies OK?
These are my 15 day old Societies. I have supplementally hand fed the two smaller ones last nite and this morning, as each afternoon when I get home one has an empty crop and the others just has a bit in it. The big one preens himself and is more active the smaller ones do not. Could it be that he was born first and them last? They don't beg when I feed them, but they do open their mouths for me. I don't hear alot of begging coming from the nest either. These are my first finches and my first clutch,am I just being paranoid? I am just puzzled that the crops are full more of the time, since Societies are supposed to be such good parents.

They look beautiful to me. I had a clutch of 3, and one feathered up completely a full 3 weeks or so before the other two. It seemed like they were never going to completely get their feathers. He was only a week older than they were too. I was worried about them, but they ended up just fine.

Thank You Lori, I'm worried about the crops of the smaller two being empty more times than not. Is that normal? A few days ago, you could see full crops when you peeked in on them, now I have to pick them up and make sure there is a bit of food near the shoulder blades or on the sides.wilkifam wrote: They look beautiful to me.
