Is it just his time?

Hey guys, hope everyone is fairing well. I come with some pretty sad questions today. One of my favorite little fellows is in really poor condition. Sam the CB I've had in my avatar for ages. I woke up this morning and found him in the bottom corner of the cage in a little blue puff. I poked his tail to see if he was just sleeping and when I got no response I was sure he had passed. As I reached in the cage to grab him I realized there was still a bit of life left in him. I immediately went into "hospital cage" mode, we've all been there. I've had the heater on him all day and it has seemed to help but I'm thinking this is just his time to go.
He has hopped a few times and at one point even made his way to a perch. He stayed there a few hours and then tried to come down for water and had almost no energy to do so. I lifted him over the water bowl and he managed to drink just once or twice. Ahhhh, he is in my room next to me and as I write he has just passed away. Gosh this is really sad to see him go after all these years. I suppose that puts an end to this thread.
While I'm here I just want to thank all of you guys for being great support for all of my questions over the years. This is very sad for me in a way, because it feels I have had this bird through almost this entire journey. He moved across the country with me! Now the hardest part, to endure the endless songs of his mate for the next few days.
Thanks again everyone.
