Whenever I have a sick bird, besides the antibiotics and liquid calcium, I also like to dissolve a couple of sublingual B12s into the drinking water. I do (2) 500 mcg dots into a pint of water. Any time I would take a sick bird to a vet, the first thing they would do was to give it a shot of B12. My doctor told me that the sublingual B12s are the closest thing to a B12 shot, without actually giving a shot. I take them myself for a non life threatening blood condition. Good luck with your sick bird. Bob

I had to take a minute to look this one up. It appears that calcium can interfere with the absorbtion of tetracyclines and quinolones. I use erythromycin (Ornacyn) mixed with calciboost and the B12s that you can get at Walgreens or Walmart. This concoction has saved several of my birds that I never thought would make it. Bob

One thing I forgot to mention. Although I use the Ornacyn/calciboost/B12 mixture as the sole source of drinking water, I don't rely on the bird to drink enough of it by itself to benefit. Twice daily I squirt a few drops into the sick bird's beak with an eyedropper. Make sure you shake the solution well and replace it in the water dishes daily. Store it in the fridge. Hope she's feeling better. Bob
