Sovereign Silver Drops for eye problem?

Post by Ginene » Fri May 31, 2013 8:24 pm

So, on Monday morning I put a deposit on a bronze varegated male canary (I think) to pair with my hen, but when I saw him yesterday I noticed that he had 1 eye closed. I did a search on the forum about eye issues and decided to order Sovereign Silver to treat this eye injury/infection. I picked him up this evening (paid $100 even though he has an injury) and did a warm tea bag compress on his eye. I want to start Silver treatment 2morrow, but I'm not sure of what to do? People mention giving their bird 3 drops, but it does not say if the drops go in the birds eye or it is administered orally. I am hoping you all can help me with the proper dosage and administration of this drug. I could tell that he enjoyed the warm tea compress, as he was completely relaxed while I did it. I just need to know the correct Protocol for proper treatment with Sovereign Silver. Hopefully he will be well very soon. Thanks... :)

I have never used it directly in the eye. Could you just put some on a cotton ball and rub over his eye with it? Sorry... I am not much help. I have some and that's what I did a long time ago with a bird. It seemed to help.

From Laraines site:
This is one of my hand-fed hens. She was treated for 5 consecutive days with Sovereign Silver drops. I applied the eye drops twice each day for 3 days, then one time each day for 5 additional days. The swelling resolved itself completely.

If you liked that you may want to "favorite" the start page to that topic, "DX/RX A photographic Troubleshooting Guide"

UPDATE---Sovereign Silver Rocks!!! Hansel's eye looks great. He is no longer keeping it closed and is more active then ever. Thank you Cindy, Debbie and Donna for your advice...my handsome canary is doing so well.
