My Gouldians are all gone!

Sad news, last night there was a fire in the house over the back of us, we were lucky we only got some smoke and some water damage but this morning when I uncovered my Gouldians they were all dead in the bottom of their cage. My Zebbies are on the third floor of the house and they are fine but I think the smoke must have been much worse in the family room than we first thought. When it happened we were evacuated by the fire department, I grabbed the dog, my computer and precious documents and we had to leave. Once the all had been given we went home to assess the damage but there were still flashing lights, so I didn’t uncover the birds to check on them until morning.
My Zebbies are all fine, they are a bit nervous but that is to be expected. I have put some stress less drops in their water and they have all of their favourite foods, so hopefully they will pull through it.
has any one experienced this type of thing and what can you suggest to help my little zebs through this?

Wow, that is terrible news! So sorry you had to go through that and for the loss of your gouldians. Thankfully for you, it didn't spread to your house. If your zebras survived thus far, I would think they will be ok. Any way to get them a little fresh air for a couple of days? Other than that, just continue providing a good, healthy diet and perhaps some liquid vitamins and fresh greens. Again, very sorry. Bob

I was just talking to my husband and he said they have tossed their eggs, they are pulling the nests apart, the vet said this is a normal reaction to stress. The vet is confident they will settle down! he just wants me to give them some time.
He said it might be another few months before they nest again! So we are cleaning their cages, giving them new nests and nesting materials and heaps of their favorite foods!

How sad for you, but fortunate that the fire didn't spread to your house. The smoke probably got to the Gouldians. I would think the Zebras will be OK, just stressed out for now.
