Hi all,
Could somebody please give me a small 'how to' guide on worming my aviary birds to prevent them catching anything nasty?
I currently keep a mixed aviary of Australian finches who spend a lot of time foraging on the ground which is natural wood bark.
I am based in the UK so a recommendation of which wormer to buy here would be really useful too
Thanks all!

I don't know UK products either, but I would be more concerned with fungal infection or bacteria outside. I guess worms is a concern too. I'd order some Ronivet/Ronex 12 % and Baycox/Baytril as an antibiotic to address those possibilities, then follow up with an avian probiotic, after the antibiotic.

This site has Baytril and another medication for birds to treat for coccidiosis and respiratory type problems. They may be diluted for pidgeons, but most include dosing for smaller birds. An adult finch weighs about 13 grams or more.

With an outdoor aviary set up, there is only 3 major things I treat for preventatively every quarter to six months depending on your environmental conditions.
Coccidiosis (every 1/4, but also after wet weather, I use ESB3 which is a chicken med, but there are many on the market and easy for me to get, but you can also use a Sulphazine based drug or something like Baycox)
Internal and external parasites (every 1/4 with Moxidectin or Equimax oral)
Protozoa (I don't really have an issue with this so I treat for it before and after the breeding season with Medizole/Ronidazole)
Because we don't know the products available to you, my suggestion is you look up those we suggest and use their active ingredient to find alternatives that are available to you. I'm not sure how readily available things are to you there. Usually places that specialize in medication for pigeons and poultry are a good place to start.
All other things I treat for only as necessary e.g. antibiotics for specific diseases.

Hi All,
Thanks for your help. You will have to excuse me and my lack of knowledge. Perhaps what I should have asked for was info on preventative medicines for my birds!
Great advice, I'll seek out the best treatments for them.
Are they usually easy enough to give? Say, in their drinking water?
