leg problem

I have a male parrot finch who seems to have a problem w/ his right leg. He doesn't seem to hold himself up on his legs. Instead he honkers down close to the perches. When he's on the floor of cage he favors his right leg and will use his opposite wing to support himself if gets off balance.

When perched on thin areas of perches he seems to roll backwards and have to flutter himself right again. He is able to get to and from food and water.

Could this be a simple break along leg or hip? If so what can I do? :|

hi, you can check to see if his hip moves with full range of motion but holding him and gently moving the leg around. Also check to see if he is fat.

I have unfortunately seen a lot of blue faced parrot finches come down with this problem. It's almost like a hip dysplasia type of an issue.

Does he have a band on that leg? I had a problem with one of my canaries about a week ago - the band had gotten way pushed up to his thigh. Made his whole leg red, swollen and painful. (fixed it, and he is fine now, btw!)

Hope whatever it is, you find a solution and it resolves very soon.
