Someone recommended that I put nesting material in my finches' nest so that they can stop plucking their feathers out to put in the nest.
Well, I tried using cotton balls like my mom used with her finches, and they took all the cotton out of their nest and put it in their water.
So, my question is: What should I use? Should I remove the nest altogether (since their eggs never seem to hatch anyway)?
Zebra finches refusing nesting material??

You can purchase things like coco fiber, or you can use grasses that you find in your neighborhood (you have to be sure they have not had chemicals put on them). My local feed store sells bags of loose Bermuda hay for $3, people get them to provide bedding for outside dogs, but it is also a good nesting material. If you provide nesting material, you may find eggs, too!

Were you able to find any nesting material that your finches liked? I give my finches, coco fiber, jute, and sisal and they go crazy with it, they chase eachother around trying to steal it from one another but there is plenty to go around.
