Anyone can suggest a reasonable priced avian vet in Arizona? Phoenix area? I live in Tempe.
Also any of you guys have insurance for your birds?

I`m not sure current one we visit is reasonably priced. Initial visit + x-ray + fixing broken leg with band and meds to go home was $300. She also said she will charge us $45 for next visit after a week when we go for control and she needs to charge us for 2nd xray $146 to see if leg is fixed or not? I mean don`t get me wrong i`ll do anything to get my bird fixed and stop his suffering but i`m getting pissed for these charges.

Healthcare costs and insurance prices are already atrocious and ridiculous for humans here in USA but obviously for pets too. I`m originally from Europe and we have universal healthcare and i never paid more than $5 for antibiotics, never paid more than $10 for doctor visit, max $25 for a x-ray or $100 for a mri. My worst bill was $200 after a microsurgery of my finger which required a surgery room, one night at the hospital room lots of meds dr and nurse visits. Oh i also have kidney stones. Every 3-4 years one little stone needs to be broken with ultrasound at least 2 dr visits and an er visit if i`m caught in between the check ups and my insurance doesn`t cover that anymore. Still i pay around $1200-$1500 which includes x-ray, ultrasound check, breaking operation in ultrasoundwave bed, meds and tests. I did a research for same things here in USA and it costs around $15k! without insurance and $4k with insurance. Seriously....

I tell my niece and nephew to become vets...they both LOVE animals and are interested in the medical field. I currently owe my avian vet $600 and that's after making 2 $200 monthly payments. I have pet insurance on both of my cats. It cost me $410 per cat policy and each has a $500 deductible that I have to meet before getting a dime back. Its really only worth having for emergencies and disease...like emergency surgery or God forbid Cancer. Owning animals is very expensive...but their health is worth every cent.

When you start getting into the exotics that is when the price goes up. It is unavoidable. The bigger the bird the bigger the bill.

I googled avian vets Tempe Arizona and got a map of a few in the area
