Cleaning freequency of Aviary Floor
I have constructed an aviary of 4' x 10' size (https://plus.google.com/photos/10331511 ... 4723741089). The bottom of the aviary is made of wire mesh. I have maintained 1’ gap in between the cemented floor and the aviary bottom. It is a new setup. I generally clean the cemented floor once a week. Is it necessary to clean the bottom wire mesh frequently? What should be the frequency? I don't want to go inside and frighten the birds frequently. I spray virkon-s once in every 15 days.

Bhatta when you say you clean the cement floor - how do you do this under the mesh? Curious. Move the aviary or hose it down or sweep it? I could not tell from the photos.
IF you could just use a strong water pressure to spray the mesh off that would be fine along with the Virkon treatment. I don't see why you would have to go in and scrub the mesh off too often.
The poop build-up comes off quite easily especially if you wet it a little before you try remove it / wash it off.
In my shelter area which is not natural sand, I clean weekly or every second week removing build up of poop and changing the floor covering, but only do a good clean and scrub probably twice a year at the most. I've not picked up any problems with this sort of regime. I also use a surface disinfectant just to be sure.
Nice aviary for your birds though.

I sweep it/vacuum it under the mesh. There is 1' gap in between the cemented floor and aviary bottom. The aviary is 4' wide. Therefore a long broom or vacuum stick can easily reach there.Bhatta when you say you clean the cement floor - how do you do this under the mesh? Curious. Move the aviary or hose it down or sweep it?
