Molting question

One of my Javas, Riff, has started molting (I think), and he is shedding his feathers at an alarming rate, within one week he turned from being beautiful and then into this ragged looking thing, he eats well, bathes, is very playful, a bit aggressive recently to Raff...is this normal? He is about 8-9 months old and the weather is getting much warmer here recently.

Cheers

I haven't had Javas, so I don't know their molting routine, but I have two flight cages of mixed juvies, Stars, Goldbreasts, Owl, Strawberry, Cordon Bleu, and they are all looking ragged right now. They are all just slightly puffy-looking, too, not sick puffy, but definitely not as sleek as normal. There are tiny feathers everywhere, too, so I know it is a molt. I am giving them all eggfood every day with Feather Fast added, as molting takes a lot out of them.

Cheers Sally, I have the tiny feathers everywhere from Riff also. And a few hours ago while he was sitting on my chest and playing with my collar buttons I stroked him (as usual) and a mass off feathers flew off him, when I put him back into the cage I watched him for a while and noticed a really long tail feather float to the bottom. He is also puffed up a bit but doesn't look sick in the slightest...won't win any competitions at the moment though. He has been crouching while sleeping recently also, but when I whistle for him he perks right up.

He has his egg mix and all the other stuff...I think I just need some reassurance because I am new to this.

Thanks

And to think two years ago, I just had a few Zebras and a few Stars--I am out of control! dfcauley asked me earlier how many I have now, and I thought a little more than 80. A recount reveals 80 in the birdroom, and now 24 in the house--egads, that's over 100!

Im trying to get more from all my finches but the only ones that seem to want to breed are my zebras.today my gouldians have finally started checking out the nest and both have been going in together and seperately. My orange cheeks have been sleeping in there canary nest but today i put some nesting material in it to see if they would try to build anything.
