Household cleaners?

I know arsol cans with cleaners are a no no. What about cleaners I spray bottles, such as windex or all purpose pledge spray cleaner? I know that birds are sensitive to things, I have never had a problem I the past with anything I've done, but have learned that canarys are more sensitive. What should I do or not do? Dusting agents, bathroom cleaners, floor cleaners? It is time to clean for the New Year! Thank you.
Not in same room as bird, but upstairs or in bedrooms? I have never had problems doing this with prior birds as long as they were not in the same room. But canarys? I have read are extremely sensitive.

I personally do not see a problem, especially when you'll be using the cleaners in other rooms/upstairs.

You can always aerate the room with an open window, if you feel nervous about it. Good luck and Happy New Year!

I use all kinds of spray cleaners without problem. Windex, furniture polish, bathroom cleaner (I even use aerosol in there, as I love Scrubbing Bubbles!). I use diluted Simple Green and also have started using diluted Mr. Clean, again without problem. Of course, I don't have canaries, but I think if you are careful, it should be OK.

I had lovebirds and parakeets years ago, and did the same. I never had a problem. I was very careful, and of course I didn't spray directly in their vicinity. I usually spray anything into the rag I am using vs. spraying any item where there is a possibility of overspray and it reaching my birds. But....a new bird species is always a scary thing.
