2 of our baby lady gouldian found dead this morning. They both were fostered under the society finch. The blue one was token care of for 2 weeks and the yellow one just came out yesterday. They live in a outdoor aviary, we covered it really good. The last few days it wasn't very cold we don't have any problem with other finches chicks. The other little older gouldian was bred inside our house and then moved outside but they are ok. Does anyone know what's going on? We have 4-5 kinds of finch in the aviary.
Thank You.

Could the society's have any of the diseases that are deadly to gouldians but harmless to them?
Have you used them to foster gouldians before and the chicks survived?
Could any of the other birds be disturbing the nest enough to cause the chicks to die?
Knowing where you live and the temperatures may help, what's not very cold?
Taking any bird from inside to outside should be done when the temperatures are about the same, allowing the bird to acclimate to the colder temperatures.

Thank you Debbie we found out, the nest was to high. It was 5 feet above from the ground. When the baby chick comes out of the nest, it couldn't get back in the nest so it could freeze to death. I am not sure about the society because their own babies are ok.

I have nests higher then 5 feet and in the wild in trees I'm sure they are higher then 5 feet. When gouldians fledge they usually don't go back in the nest so I don't think that was your problem at all.
Have you used the society to foster gouldians before and the chicks survived?
What's the temperature where they are?
If the society's have any of the two diseases they will not be affected nor will their chicks but it is deadly to the gouldians.
Here's an article about fostering:
