Finches SCREAMING without nests!

My society finches had a clutch of infertile eggs which they abandoned so I pulled their nests, since I don't want to breed them anymore right now. But now that they don't have them they just spend their whole day SCREECHNING, like nails on a chalkboard, it is horrible and absolutely endless. This started within 2 hours of getting rid of the nest. One just starts and they feed off eachother and go on and on and the sound is literally so loud I can hear it outside my house. I thought these birds didn't require nests? The spice finches they live with are not doing this. They used to be nearly silent save for the male's song, which he no longer does. He just screeches hoarsely and she does it really, really clearly but loud as heck.

Give them back the nests, pull any real eggs, and substitute with fake ones, they they quietly tend to the nest.

Leave the nest out for a few days and see if they get used to the nest being gone. You will have to put up with the screeching for a while.
If you give in and put the nest back, you will have to deal with eggs. And you also do not want the hen to become exhausted from constantly laying eggs.
When not breeding or fostering, I remove the nest from my societies cage, and after a day or so, they get used to the nest not being there.

If you pull eggs and give them fake ones, they they are not constantly laying.
When I pull nests, I never get any eggs. I have my birds in a room to themselves, so if they complain about the nests being gone, I don't hear it.
