Baby finch bleeding from ear?

I have 8 baby finches in the cage and one of them is bleeding from its ear. I haven't noticed it getting pecked by the other birds. Is bleeding from the ear a sign of something serious? Is there anything I can do? This bird is about three weeks old and is in the weening process.

If you haven't seen it being pecked it may have flown into something and injured itself. If it's acting off or fluffed you could seperate it and see if it improves.

Is it scratching? Are the other birds scratching and is there anything crusty around the ear?

Yes, its crusty blood around the ear. He's still alive and kicking though so I guess it wasn't anything life threatening. Thank goodness!

Yes, he's scratching it a lot it seems. But there is no more blood. Should I separate him from the other little one?

I'd leave him unless he looks sick or weak. If he's still weaning separating him will mean making sure he eats and drinks, since at 3 weeks he won't be doing that on his own......

I'd go with Hilary's suggestion, if the bleeding has stopped and there is no apparent infection just leave it be unless it looks sick
