That's very odd! There Is no reason to clip a Finches wings. Doing so could lead to obesity and a host of other issues...Not being able to reach food/water dishes, perches and Not to mention stress on the bird which can lower its immune system. Just my 2 cents.

Clipping nails can be tricky. I think its better to give them natural perches that are rough to help file them down. Also sand or concrete perches will Do a better job but there are some people that don't like to use them. I've never had a problem with them personally. Zebra finches don't grow crazy nails like some other species (Waxbills) so them over growing Is rarely an issue.

I put a pedi perch either near their favorite food or water so they have to land on it. I had it in a place they barely used and their nails were getting a little long so i moved it.
After moving the perch their nails filed down really well, so you can do that with your finches.
As for clipping their wings.. I haven't seen or heard anyone on the forum who do this. I don't see a need to do so
