So here's what happened. My gouldian's toe got stuck between a TINY opening between two bars. When I found him he was hanging by one toe. I noticed it was bleeding when I got him free. This morning I cleaned the wound. I noticed it looks completely mutilated. From just behind his nail, it's bent to the side and looks really bad. What should I do? Is it going to fall off? Does he need to be given antibiotics in his water? Just a side note, he's currently in quarantine with another male.

It will most likely fall off. I had a very good male Gouldian w/some missing toes (bought him that way) & he was a very good breeder & dad. I have a male now who lost all his toes & I'm intending to use him for breeding also.

There isn't much you can do about broken toes. They will either heal themselves, or they will blacken and eventually fall off. The bird will be fine missing one toe. I personally wouldn't put any antibiotics in the water, but you could apply an antiseptic cream like Neosporin to the foot to help in healing.

Thanks Sally and Dolly. I feel so bad for him. Good thing is, he's still eating and drinking. :D
