Mites on my birds and on myself.

Hi everyone I haven't been on for awhile but better late than never I guess.
I am breeding Gouldians, normals, white breasted and yellow backed, white breasted with red head.
I am having a major problem with mites on my birds and myself.
I am guessing they are the red blood sucking mites. Can someone give some advice on what to use to
try to get them under control and where I can get it from.
I have been using Cydectin in the past but I can't seem to get it. I was thinking Moxidectin plus but again cannot find where to get it from. I do appreciate any ideas or advice that anyone can give.
Thank you.

So sorry you have this problem, as red mites are said to be the most difficult to control. Are you able to purchase Avian Insect Liquidator in Australia? Here is a link to an article on red mites and various insecticides to use to get rid of them. Good luck with it.

skip try through a local finch club or ask on the Aussie Finch Forum. I know it is not easy for them to get all products or some may have alternatives to help you. Local knowledge may help you more.
I'm lucky I can still get Moxidectin without trouble.
Usual treatment for chronic infestation is to treat the birds, treat the aviary and ALL bird equipment. Clean the lot.... A lot of work but worth it if you can get rid of them.
Good luck.

To expand on what Monotwine said.....
I'd also ensure you clean all the areas around the cage too. Rugs, drapes, etc.
Best of luck. Mites are awful. Been there, done that (not with my birds, but with my dogs/cats.) It's stressful for sure.
