gouldins molting?

The past couple weeks my two boys have been dropping feathers like crazy. Is it molting time for them? We are in New Jersey and they are kept in the dining room and yes, we have been running the AC. It is hot and humid here! I do put them outside on nice days for a little bit and then bring them back inside, just long enough to catch some sun rays. Should I be concerned with the feather dropping? And my younger of the two, he is about 11 months now, has not completed his coloring up on his head. I see he is getting red in, but much is still gray. Seems to be coloring up so slow. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you!

Hi, in my experience Gouldians can take longer to complete a moult than other species. Mine have just finished, took about 6 weeks. I've also been informed they can be susceptible to what we call in the UK a 'French moult'. This is were the moult constantly for the rest of their lives. I've never had this problem tho. Also birds can go through a moult at any time of the year.

pretty birds; they're probably molting. Feed 'em good now (egg food good at this time for the protein)
