Polly passed away

Post by Geordie » Sat May 24, 2008 10:12 pm

Sad weekend for me. Woke up as usual at about 6:30am and opened Polly's cage. Polly (my oldest Java) always liked to have the run of the house in the morning and I didn't mind. He seemed very happy and full of beans as usual, following me from room to room, even coming into the toilet with me, we went everywhere together, I could even take him outdoors on my shoulder and he never once flew away, we were best friends. But he was rather quiet yesterday morning for about 30 minutes which was really unusual for him so I went from room to room looking for him and found him dead on top of a cabinet. Made a little grave in the garden with a headstone. I am absolutely shattered now and can't stop crying.

I still have Riff & Raff to keep me company though.

Anyway here is Polly, handsome little thing and loved the camera.

Geordie, I am so sorry for your loss. It must be especially devasting for you, because you have hand-tamed your finches, so you have an extra-special bond with them. I've enjoyed seeing your photos of your birds--Polly will be missed.

How sad....losing a pet bird is hard on the emotions.

I am amazed that he was tame enough to sit on your shoulder...he must have really felt comfortable with you.

So sorry you had to experience that. He was a beautiful bird. Try to focus on the good memories, but don't focus on them to the point where it hurts too much.

Again, sorry for your loss. :(

I'm so very sorry for your loss. It must be so much harder with that extra bond you had. At least he didn't suffer in the end. :(
