Promectine (Ivermectin based) and Gouldian Fertility

Hi,

I use Promectine Oral to treat ASM. Promectine is based on Ivermectin - more info here - http://www.moeahsan.com/moeahsan_invesa_2.htm.

By any chance does anyone know if Ivermectin based treatments affect Gouldian fertility?

I know that in the past I may have read something about it but to be honest I am not sure if it was related to Invermectin or Cocci meds.

Thanks.

This is the only thing that I can find about it, Ivomec has ivermectin as the active ingredient.

Ivomec will rid your birds of any air sac mites, most worms and many other internal and external parasites such as blood sucking lice and mites. There is some speculation amongst professional breeders that this medication “Ivomec” may cause temporary sterility in birds so just to be sure this does not affect our breeding season, we treat our birds once a year during the first week of January to give them a full 4 months to clear out any residuals of the medication from their systems prior to breeding our birds.

I plan to start the season in 6 weeks or so (except the pair which i have going on right now) and I am contemplating if I should give all of them a preventative dose. Maybe it's just a knee jerk reaction but am worried now.
