White beak on male gouldin?

Taz has been stuck in molt, and finally has his head feathers coming in. However I have noticed that his beak is becoming whiter, and whiter while the tip remains red. Is this part of the molting process for him. It almost looks as though he is molting his beak as well, " so to speak" . I will try to take a phot and post it as well, he is camera shy, as he flys away or turns his head.

Wow, that's super white.
What's odd is the really hard line between the white and the red. Usually it's a more gradual color transition.
I wish I could offer insight, but I can't say I've ever seen that!
I'll be interested to hear what the others say!
Best,
Mia C.
