Okay, I posted recently about the finch I have that seems to dehydrate and act strangely sometimes. I've figured out that what he's doing is having seizures. Can birds be epileptic? He has the seizure and then is normal. Its weird. And scary.

I've heard of this before in finches, there can be many reasons. If the bird has severe regular fits it would be humane to have it put down.

I agree, i would hate it to see one of my finches going through that knowing that its very painful for them.

Is it painful? I don't believe it is for humans, is it?
I have a swee male that apparently had seizures (nothing for a long time, though, thank goodness). He'd flop around, then be fine again. At the time somebody told me that it could be a deficit of some vitamin or another, but he's been fine since so I really don't know what had been causing it.

Well I think that this would be a personal choice that you would have to make and be comfortable with.
I struggled with that decision a while back and believe me it wasn't easy.
I personally could not take an animal suffering. If it is not suffering then I would give it a chance to straighten out. But like I said when it is your bird you hae to decide what is best for you.

Get him checked out by a vet before you make any decision. One of my birds is hopping mad these days but is perfectly healthy and happy, he just has wacky periods from time to time, reminds me of Benny Hill...and my missus come to think of it.
