Hi,
I have a 6/7 year old Gouldian male and over the last couple of months he has been very puffed up, eating a lot and has undigested seeds in his droppings.
During the last 6 weeks I have been keeping him in a brooder.
A few weeks ago I gave him 6 days treatment with a generic antibiotic called Ganadexil which contains Enrofloxacin but this didn't help.
Now I am treating him with Travioharma A-C-G 1 which is treatment for protozoal infections such as trichomoniasis (Canker), Hexamitiasis and Coccidiosis. This medicine is composed of Amprolium HCI and Ronidazole. However I am not seeing any improvements.
Today I made a wet fecal smear (second one) and I saw what I believe could be either Ecoli or AGY. I am a beginner in disease identification and I am hoping someone can help me to identify the issue from the photos below.
P.S. I am not 100% sure that I have the measurement done right.
Please help!!!

vellad I don't know anything about microscopy, but here is a link to a website that features some good information on using microscopes for identifying illnesses. Reading over that page really makes me feel like I need to learn more about this. Also, there is a link on the right side of that page to the Avian Microscopy yahoo group, where you will find more people with this type experience. Good luck.

I hope you find out what's ailing your guy. Sounds serious. If those seeds are coming out whole, that means he's likely missing out on lots of nutrients since he's not absorbing and digesting his food properly.
I would be sure to give him some probiotics if you haven't already. That will help re-establish a healthy flora in his gut.
I wish someone offered a class (even online) about microscopic evaluation of fecal smears and skin scrapings.
