I would think that 7 months along, these Gouldians should be farther along in their molt. Just a few red spots showing so far for their red heads. I thought I fed pretty well, but should I be adjusting something??

finchandlovebird I have a 5 month old Parrot finch that has not started to colour at all. Her siblings have all completely coloured up more than a month ago and she has not gotten a single feather of her adult plumage. Maybe she she will change at the next molt. I don't think you should worry. I have heard about Gouldians that bred while being stuck in the molt.

Hi.
They look lovely, and don't look stuck in molt to me, just molting slowly. I recall hearing/reading somewhere, that a little more heat (as in a warmer temperature) might be helpful.

I've got 5-month-old gouldians who only just started coloring up a couple weeks ago, so it can definitely take a while!
I would ensure they have a good amount of protein in their diet, as they need a lot of protein to create the keratin that forms feathers.
I also offer Feather Fast and kelp powder, as that has the iodine they need to moult properly.
I've also heard about the seasonal difference that
lovezebs mentions -- that they moult faster in the warm season.
