I just got a pair of Zebra Finchs from a feed store one is missing most of his body feathers and the other is missing a lot of bum feathers. Dose any one know why they could be missing so many feathers. I can't take them to the vet but I did not want to leve them at the feed store.

Probably from the other zebras in the cage,they do that. Give them a little time they should get new feathers. Woudn't hurt to give eggfood that helps when they are molting. hope they get better soon

Poor little things...... they look pitiful. Watch them closely and make sure they are not plucking each other. Were they in a cage with a bunch of other finches. I agree with bcamp...they were possibly plucked by other finches. Give them some cuttle bone shaved on top of the egg food.

hey u, it's the same me from talk budgies , yeh i'd say that some of the 50 other finches were picking on him, they are very nice looking, cant wait to see what he looks like with all his feathers.

I just found this post...Rattie.........they sure look so pitiful.... . Hopefully they will re-feather now that they are away from the others.

To help soothe their skin you could spray a mixture of 1/2 aloe juice and 1/2 water onto them....it will help with the irritation of the new feathers coming in. I also put some in the bath water dish too....it doesn't hurt them to drink the mixture either.

Keep us updated on how they are doing...ok?

Poor birdies. It should growback in though. They were just to crowded but now they have a nice peaceful home.

Rattie.....I got my jar of Aloe Juice at my grocery store in the health foods section. I don't know where you live but you could try your grocery store or else a health food store.

I don't know where you are located, but if the birds are in an air-conditioned room, I would make sure they aren't exposed to any drafts, maybe even wrap a towel around part of the cage. That one poor bird is so naked, he could take a chill!

Thanks my mom siad that she has some aloe juice . I think that they are in a spot safe from drafts in my room.

I have a little male finch that looks almost as bald. Same neck! I just have 1 pair and I am sure there is no plucking going on. I have had them for about 8 months and still no regrowth. Help. He's a little stud though. Maybe his "Woman" likes him slick/ heheheheh Esty
