Trimming beaks

I have a society that has an overgrown beak. She's had it since I got her and appears healthy.
I'm thinking I need to trim her beak since it is longer now and may interfere with her abilities.
Can I just clip it with a fingernail clipper? Will it split? I was going to try it and then chickened out thinking I might split her whole upper beak.
Its very thin and sharp so.. I think it might work.
Any experienced thoughts?

hi naomi
best thing to do is file it down with an emery board or nail file .if you do decide to cut it make sure you dont get the tongue....the nail file will be better as less chance of drawing blood but if you do use clippers take a small amount at a time and when you do finish make sure you use some cuttlefish as it will keep their beaks in trim
