poopologist??
I have a fairly new blue female. She just started with the butt pumping but doesn't really exhibit much else. Looked at all kinds of medicine suggestions and decided to put her on ronex 12% but she's still doing the butt thing. this is what she pooped. does it look like anything important to anyone?

Re: poopologist??
No pro, but I'd try a decoccidiosis med and if possible double with a sulpher based broad spectrum antibiotic. Here I get two meds which a I can safely mix. Esb3 and consumix.
Not sure what you have available.

Re: poopologist??
I do have vetafarm coccivet. I have a few broad spectrum antibiotics, amoxitex, tetratex, spectovet. i'm assuming these are not going to help. lady gouldian finch has Trimethoprim/Sulfa that I could order. anyway, i'll start with the coccivet. would you recommend I treat the others in the cage? I lost a young guy a couple of months ago and we didn't know why but the symptoms did suggest possible coccidiosis. really appreciate your suggestions.
whatever you suggest, pls let me know if you think they can be mixed. thank you!!

rancho2...I would email pics and symptoms to Laraine @ ladygouldianfinch.com. Or have labs run on your birds droppings.

Re: poopologist??
question about what to do now. I don't get a chance to watch the blue girl during the day but it appears she's not doing the butt pumping anymore after putting her on Coccivet. But she still does not look well. This morning she kept her head tucked after the lights came on. even her eyes look a little squinty to me. she does eat but pretty much stays to herself. would it be reasonable to put her on a different medicine? like amoxitex and or ronivet? or should one even do that after a round of Coccivet? I was reading several threads about these sorts of things so not sure. I did not contact Lorraine this time. I've done so in the past, and lost a bird, and really there's not much they can do unless you take the bird to a vet and I don't have the resources for that. my chances are just as good getting info on this forum.
thoughts? suggestions?

my posting wouldn't let me edit so I'll do it here. Lorraine has given me great advice and suggestions and I do everything she suggests/recommends. but bottom line is - a good vet is the way to go if you can. with that said, i do like to go this forum for info from people with so much experience with the same problems I've had. it's helped me a lot.
