Birds beaks do flake now and then, though it shouldn't cause the bird to fluff up. I'd offer some extra heat and reevaluate the droppings and symptoms.
good luck

My one male has the same problem with his beak. He is in excellent health other than that.
I don't know what it is either, and no one seems to be able to tell me what it is.

It doesn't seem to bother him, but I don't know what's causing it, or how to get rid of it. It's like a calcified build up on the top of his beak, and it's not flaking. None of my other males have it.

I have read that hormones can do this also... maybe the hormones are triggering the shedding????

The bird appears to be bending low over the perch... have you picked him up to examine him? Does he feel thin in the body, breast bone prominent? If the breast bone is prominent (feels and looks like a sharp "V") can you dampen the feathers slightly and pushing them from the side all the way to the sides exposing as much underside as possible?

Yellow droppings can be yeast. Yellow droppings with undigested seeds and weight loss can be Campylobacter. Cochlosoma can also cause mustard colored droppings as well as giardia.
Not being a vet I could not tell you exactly what your dealing with.

I am leaning towards what Debbie mentioned it could... all those things can be treated. The treatment for yeast is organic apple cider vinegar and the other issues Debbie mentioned can be treated with Ronex 12% or Ronivet 12%. You can have parasites or issues in the gut with secondary yeast.

An avian vet is really your best way to go, they will do a fecal smear to see what is really in the droppings and what the bird is shedding. Swabs can be done.

If you have no access to a vet you can try a course of Ronex12% or Ronivet 12% made with ACV 1-2 tablespoons to one gallon of water. If your birds are not use to ACV back it down to 1 1/2 but for yeast they do recommend 2. Make your ACV first and use that to make the amount (usually a quart) of Ronex... store any extra in the fridge. (let warm to room temp before giving to the birds.)

If after 3 to 4 days and there is no improvement or if the bird worsens before that time let us know or try to find a vet ASAP.

Chance are if he is carrying something giardia and been in with other birds he may also have shared it with others.... you can also treat them with a round of just ronex as well.

yes you can use it with young. Remove any charcoal and baths from the cage.

no - ACV is Apple Cider Vinegar (use organic Braggs)... Ronivet or Ronex are an anti-parasitic medication.
