Mold on millet ingested EEEK!

Post by Babs _Owner » Wed Nov 04, 2015 3:51 pm

I was putting out some millet and after I placed the sprigs in the cages, did a few more things in the room......I was putting the lid back on the millet container.

I noticed a sprig of millet and there was mold!!!! So I pulled out the sprigs immediately from the cages but they had already munched on a bit of it. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :-SS

This only happened a few minutes ago and everyone was chowing down on it for about two minutes.

What do I do if any of them gets sick? Is there some preventive measures I can take before this possibly becomes a crisis?

This is what I get for rushing around during work break to give snacks. #-o

Fantastic news! I read the ingredients on the AviPow and its powdered Pau Darco bark . (noone sells Avipow locally)

However, the good news is Petparadise here sells the homeopathic version and its liquid pure Pau Darco bark extract.

I got on the horn with Bill and he's on his way to pick it up right now. #:-S

Bri my feeding hen ate some, and I gotta make sure this doesnt affect her babies. What goes in her crop, goes in theirs.

The bird guru there said this is added to their water. Thats makes this process much easier.

Gonna have to give it to my society boys too. So glad you got to me quickly.

Thanks again Cindy

Thanks so much!

PS This might have been what killed my little Bebop, as I this was the bin used to house her millet under her cage.......and I was just now dipping into to it because my other millet bin ran out.

The mold spores might have been too small for me to see when Bebop ingested them. :(

I think you likely got to them in time, they may not have ingested a lot of it.

I think so too (thank goodness) . Bill was fast.......holy cow, he just walked in with the PauDarco extract.

You recommend giving this before they have any symptoms? Is it safe for moms and nestlings?

Girlie, Bill rolled in here quicker than Bubba in his 4x4 to a Nascar race ticket booth. Bubba's got some competition ;)

I got the medicine in hand.
