What is this female doing?
Hello all
I have a male unwell, he is in a hospital cage with an infra red lamp over it.
Every now and then when free flying my female zebra (not partnered with the sick male) lands on top of his cage in front of the red lamp, spreads her wings, puffs up her feathers and pants..
The rest of the time she is showing no signs of any sickness. So is she just 'enjoying' the lamp?
Shes being weird!

I'm not entirely certain what that's all about.
If she goes there on her own, then I'm assuming she's enjoying it.
What's happening with your male, nothing contagious I hope (?)

Mr Zeb isn't contagious no, just weak at this point. She certainly seems to be having a nice time by the look of her. Not straining like she has egg problems, only fluffs and pants for a minute when under the lamp and then goes back to normal.
She goes all flat against the cage top and I swear if a bird could smile 'Baby' would be smiling lol
Yeah after seeing her do it a few times and her other behaviour im sure shes just basking.

Ha ha!! Now not only is 'Baby' fluffing at the lamp and sitting all flat, but my female diamond dove too!!
My male birds aren't so bothered to go and bask, but Baby and Mrs Dooo are both loving that lamp

Oh no, when you are in that tanning bed, you have to roll around a bit. Don't ask me how I know that.
