Bird expo birds
So, I went to a bird show this week as a vendor. I sold all but two of my societies. One of the finches died early the next morning. I just thought that it suffered from being too stressed from the drive there and back. The other finch I brought back home was fine for a few days, but started displaying signs of illness this afternoon. I have her in a hospital cage with a heat lamp and a broad spectrum antibiotic in the water. By the way, both birds are downstairs away from my other birds, and I'm washing my hands after interacting with the cage. I'm including some screenshots of the suspect birds I saw on the expo's Facebook page. Can anyone confirm an illness? Again, the pictures are not of my birds.

What did it say on the Facebook page?
I can't imagine putting that picture as an ad to come to their expo. That bird definetly has issues.

Re: Bird expo birds
Were these birds being sold or birds that became ill after the show?
How close were these to your birds? I can send a picture off to someone that helps us regarding health and meds.
Sorry you lost your birds. I pretty much stopped doing some of the indoor shows. I do sell at two outdoor shows, I have a booth in an area where it is open no other vendors right next to me. Indoor shows can be a concern for illness, especially hookbill diseases.

Re: Bird expo birds
These were pictures that someone took and tagged the expo in. Nothing that they actually posted.
I'm not sure where these birds were in relation to my table. There were several people selling gouldians. There was one vendor, who was selling gouldians, that bought a society from me, put it in a cage with a couple other gouldians he bought, then came back later and asked to switch out the female he bought with a male that I had. That female is the one fighting with something right now.

According to the person running the expo, the bird wasn't sick. It had lost an eye. He said that they had their avian vet check it out.

Re: Bird expo birds
I have a policy once the bird leaves my hands and is in their travel cage with other birds from other vendors it dissolves my guarantee. The birds my bird is put in with could be carrying something and pass it to my bird... I won't exchange it out either if put in with other birds not from me.

It looks like I'm going to have to start this policy. I guess it's just an unfortunate learning experience.cindy wrote: I have a policy once the bird leaves my hands and is in their travel cage with other birds from other vendors it dissolves my guarantee.
