608duj I've never tried it, and I can't find anything when I did a search. I'd check with the manufacturer.

I agree check with the manufacturer or ladygouldian.com. Scatt applied topically is absorbed through the skin into the blood stream vs giving a med orally.

Do your birds have ASM at this time?

I can't find anything either. I have used Ivermectin this way. May experiment. Birds new to me were SCATTED upon arrival and went to nest before they were due again, now have many new chicks. All are ZEBS OB, FF, BB. None showing signs, I give routinely.

Several days ago a Gouldian hen feeding 6 chicks that had not fledged from her second clutch developed open mouth breathing. It sure looked like ASM. I gave her SCAT topically. Several hours later she was no longer distressed in her breathing. I treated the male as well. Chicks have fledged, all doing well. It would seem that it is ok for chicks at this stage of growth. Time will tell.

Since I made this post 2 yrs ago I have routinely given SCAT topically to adult Gouldians feeding chicks if they were due for it. No problems whatever.
I keep Zebras as well, but have never seen a Zebra showing signs. I do them all anyway as they could be harboring them and infect the Gouldians. The Parrotfinches never show any signs either.

not on chicks still developing... any chick under the age of 21 (we usually say until weaned are still developing) should not receive moxidectin.

some of the sites selling the moxidectin products state this and it was run by a professional, to play it safe do not use it until weaned if you can.
