Air sac mites?

Post by StodOne » Mon Mar 14, 2016 1:35 pm

Does the clicking noise when breathing actually mean the bird has air sac mites or it might just be a false alarm?
During the day my bird shows no symptoms of being sick , droppings are normal , no sneezing ,coughing and no clicking sound during the day , but when i looked at the bird in the nest I heard a clicking sound ... this doesent mean it is coming from the bird , it may be just pushing the hay the bird is laying on back and forth .. i am not sure .
Any advice?

Clicking can be many things, mostly if it's a problem it's because of a respiratory infection.
If you treated for ASM during quarantine following the directions on the bottle you should not have a problem with them getting ASM.

Sounds like a false alarm to me. If it was an issue it wouldn't come and go like that.
good luck

debbie276 Thanks.
I do actually believe that it was just a piece of hay moving back and forth scratching the nest cup , kinda reminded me to ask the question is the clicking noise only because of air sac mites or could be other things.
Is it possible that when a bird drinks water and after that it begins making the clicking sound because there was a bit of water on the nostrils ?
